A Little Further Information on South Shields – the best of city and sea

South Shields, Tyne & Wear is generally regarded as the best place in the world ever so even if you don’t come and stay with us come anyway! Given that we have ran South Shields (not Newcastle remember!) serviced apartments as corporate, contractor and relocation accommodation and self catering holiday homes successfully for over 5 years so we feel we are ideally placed to tell you all about its many merits!

We are on the coast with the best of city and sea! On the banks of the Tyne and a mere 20-30 mins into the majority of the Tyne & Wear conurbation yet blessed with miles of coastline and quiet fields and hills to lose yourself in on our doorstep

South Shields has a stunning coastline, much of it managed by National Trust, the Great North Run ends here, the locals are the friendliest bunch you’ll ever meet, Eric Idle (Monty Phyton Legend), Sir Ridley Scott (Alien, etc director) and 3 of the X-Factor winners are from here, and local children are brought up on a dubious pork product called a saveloy dip! But its “geet lush man!” especially with “everything on” (peas pudding, stuffing and mustard!). Even Muhammad Ali knows South Shields is where the cool kids head when, still heavyweight boxing champion of the world, he came to South Shields to get his wedding blessed at the Mosque and I saw him go past our front door on Stanhope Road in 1977!

Joking aside….every single guest who comes to stay with us and hasn’t been to the North East before (there have been many due to the luxury quality of our places attracting large family groups from around the globe) absolutely loves our places and the surrounding area of South Tyneside. We are blessed to have an immense amount going on from the coastline, numerous beaches (Sandhaven, Littlehaven & Marsden beaches) and the meandering clifftop walks along “The Leas” (natural grassland managed by the National Trust), the beautiful parks (South and North Marine), as well as all of the rich history (Arbeia fort, Bedes world), culture (The Word, Customs House, Summer festival at Bents Park, etc and of course the infamous Mechanics Arms Saturday night karaoke…I dare you to go!), food (The glorious curry mile/Ocean Road, Colemans 2 restaurants), sports (The Mariners march up the leagues), outdoor activities (we even have own own Surf School which I highly recommend!) and of course the pubs full of friendly locals always up for a laugh! And that is even before you get to Newcastle, Sunderland, Northumberland and Durham which are all a very short commute away. Just come! We’re much better than Newcastle 😉

Come to South Shields and stay with us, I guarantee that you will not regret your choice.
